Student teaching and field experiences hand book.
The hand book is one of the things which we clearly need as prospective teachers. It leads us in order to observe and, to teach effectively.
The book suggests converting responsibilities in to opportunities in order to become effective teachers. It suggests knowing the school environment, first. The cases which are given in the book to think about different situations also show that, teaching varies according to the conditions. There may be unexpected events and we should be prepared for them.
Another important issue in the book is to observe the cooperating teacher. We also did this and see the negative and positive points. Then, we compare and contrast her to us and see our weaknesses and strong sides. We also observe our friends as student teachers. And, we gave each other feed back in order to help each other.

The book also gives advices about stress, which is natural in the classroom environment sometimes. It advises to see our talented and weak points and try to take pre-caution for them in order to keep away from stress. There are also other suggestions such as being punctual, writing legibly, keeping oneself calm etc… it is fruitful for the person who prepares himself to be an effective teacher.

ARTICLE REFLECTIONS
On making determinations of Quality in teaching.

The article simply says that good teaching does not necessarily means successful teaching. They are two different concepts in that good teaching is something related with the worth of the activities while successful teaching deals with the objectives of the lesson. However, they both are something related with the ‘teaching’. So, what is teaching? Teaching has task concern which is done by the teacher in the class. And another concern is achievement that is what students take from the tasks. Therefore, learning and teaching are two concepts which are directly related with each other. Quality teaching produces the learning, so it is useful to make distinction between the teaching and quality teaching.

ARTICLE REFLECTIONS
Maintaining sanity in an insane classroom

Being a teacher does not only mean that you are only responsible for the grammatical topics required by the curriculum. It is natural that we have some unexpected events in the class while we are teaching. We can have an idea about communicating with students who have some emotional or behavioral problems with the help of this article. Such key words as ‘tool box, curriculum of the moment, the small and the big stuff, 10 seconds rule and, international motivation’ would help us to understand the concern.

‘ tool box’ is a very useful idea for language teaching. I also saw some of my friends who were teaching the same class with me in the practice teaching, using tool boxes. And, I realize the function of tool box. It directly motivates the students and attracts their attention easily.

‘Curriculum of the moment’ is another essential factor in the class. We have most probably some extra events. Therefore, we could have some extra plans for unexpected issues. Or, there may be much time left than we expected. We should also prepare some extra activities.

In the class there may be some little or big misbehaviors. So, we should also think about these beforehand. Little problems such as whispering giggling may be ignored in order not to miss the focus of the class. For the Misbehaviors that are serious that we cannot overcome by ignoring we should remain calm and conserve our cool attitude.
When it comes to 10 seconds rule, we should keep away the rest of the class from the place in order to protect them from harm and wait for 10 seconds.
To conclude, it is highly probable that we will not come across the ideal classes in which there would no problem nor obstacles and we can just lecture and go. We should be prepared for misbehaves. Therefore, this article gives some clues about maintaining the control in unexpected situations.

ARTICLE REFLECTIONS
Classroom management as a method and manner
The presence of the teacher is one of the main concerns that lead the fate of the class. The attitudes of teacher, their approaching to issues and the students decide the character of a class. In the article, there are two teachers one of whom is Darlende and the other is Kai.
As for classroom management, Darlende makes use of individual and group activities. The focus of the class is not missed when she warn the class. She also provides the reasons. Darlende makes her-self clear for the class. So, nothing is indefinite. She is also friendly, mild and fair. Kai as the other teacher uses whole group activities with a teacher centered process. She uses ‘I’ messages in order to cope with misbehave. She also provides rationale for her warnings. She is friendly.
The two teachers have some different and similar points in managing the class. We see that both of them can be considered as successful in management. They help us to understand the significance of classroom management, the importance of teachers’ manner towards students. In brief, there is no unique answer of classroom management. We should always consider our manner and attitudes towards the students in order to be an effective teacher in the future.

Here is the end. It is both the end of the practice course and my educational life. I have always been strongly in favor of practice rather than theory. I know that practical world has many kinds of characteristics, problems or unexpected situations none of which can not to be fit in to one specific category of theory. I mean, you cannot use communicative language learning method in a class which is talented at communicating except a few students. You cannot disregard those. Each student has its own characteristic or personality. And, they compose a nice but, hard variation to deal. And a teacher cannot cope with the situation with definite methods of theory. This certainly doesn’t mean that theory is nothing. However, theory is something that shouldn’t as dominant as practice. Therefore, what I have learned from three school experience course in my under graduate years is much more effective than what I have learned in the theoretical lectures in the department. I am trying to say that it is no matter how much clear or elaborative or tentative you are explained and toughed driving a car unless you are not on the seat of a car. In brief, I sat on the seat and saw that it is essential to found a bound between each individual and make them like or simply ‘admit’ you in order to give them ‘something.’ And a teacher should always seem to be confident. He/ she have to be confident in order to seem like that. And, the only way of gaining confidence is the knowledge and preparation. Therefore, a teacher should know very well of his/ her professional area and s/he should always be prepared in order to be and seem confident and see a professional respect.

Today I am teaching conditionals O, 1, and 2. And, I will be observed by my cooperating teachers. I must confess that I am a bit nervous and excited. Any way, it would be fascinating to learn my weak and strong sides after I am being observed. There are too many things that are to be covered in one hour. I know that it would be difficult to cover all of them. However, I should be planned and clearly cover as much as I can in one hour.
I have a PPP which can be regarded as standard 1, planning and organizing English language teaching process, substandard 5, using technological sources in English language teaching. I have also hand-outs which are regarded as standard 1substandart 2 arranging learning environments that are appropriate to English language teaching and substandard 3 using materials and sources that are appropriate to English language teaching process.

I felt myself as a real teacher today. I was supposed to have one lesson for today. However, it turned out to be two. So, I entered both to the first and the second hour and everything went well, in my opinion. I felt myself as a ‘whole’ with the class. We made jokes, learn new things, and practice the grammatical issues. Also, I eventually recorded myself. Why I mentioned it here is that it is interesting that I forgot that I was being recorded. So, I didn’t get excited or nervous. In the second hour, our mentor teacher didn’t come to the class so, we are alone with the students with my student- teacher- friends.  Therefore, the only teacher at that moment was me. And, I must confess that I was more relaxed in the second hour than in the first hour.

It is the second hour. T is teaching. G was the teacher of first hour. I think all of us get accustomed to the atmosphere of this class and being a teacher. I cannot observe myself with a pair of eyes from outside but, my friends seem very self confident teachers who know what to do very well. I think, confidence is directly related with the preparation. I mean the more you are prepared the more you are confident. T and G prepared PPPs separately for their hours. Language class has such a chance that they have a projector. Therefore, this turns out to be an opportunity for us, also. Our materials are important for the students in order to catch the focus. So, PPP make things easier at this point. By this way, G and T have a profile which has a dominant self- confidence that have the class relaxed.
